There over 100 species of Poison Dart Frogs. They are beautiful amphibians, displaying some of the most brilliant colors on earth.

Their bright coloring and elaborate patterns ward off potential predators, acting as a warning sign that they might be dangerous to eat, as well as helping them blend in with their tropical habitats. Though some carry enough poison, individually, to kill 10 grown men, many are completely non toxic.

They also demonstrate a parenting habit referred to as “backpacking”, where they carry their tadpole offspring on their backs, and bring them to “nurseries” – the small pools of water that collect on leaves.
